Hi guys, first time poster here and hoping to get some good advices. I've read a lot of reviews and theories about sound already, but I am still quite confused..

Basically I just want a good sound system, not loud, but superb in quality and clarity.

First off, I've already bought the Onkyo Integra DTR-5.9 (DTX-5.9 here in Japan.) http://www.integrahometheater.com/model.cfm?m=DTR-5.9&class=Receiver&p=s

Since I'm still tight on budget, I would be first running a 2.1 system then later upgrading to 5.1. I've looked at Klipsch's RB-81 and RW-10 which I believe is a good choice, only that the RW-10 lowest frequency is only 25hz and misses a 5hz to make my system a 20hz-20khz. So any other speaker suggestions besides from klipsch?

I've also looked at AxiomAudio's M22 v2, but unfortunately no distributors in Japan.. Although they ship internationally, the costs of shipping, duties and taxes would be too much.

And cables, monster cable of about 12AWG is good right?

Now here's the catch, remember I said I don't need something loud? Here's why.. I only live in an apartment, and the room where I would be putting the system is only about 12ft x 6ft x 10ft. Hehe

AutumnWillow, like your screen name and wlesome to the forum. he Klipsch speakers RB-81 and subwoofer RW-10 look to be pretty good speakers. Don't worry about the RW-10 only going to 25 Hz, most other subwoofers don't go much lower either. Are their other speaker brands avialble there you are considerign? Audition the speakers and see if you like the sound of the Klipsch. If you are worried about the 25 Hz limit, take some CDs with you to test that have low bass sounds.

Monster cables are overpriced. You can get 14 gauge ( you can get 12 gauge but it is an overkill) gauge wire and banana plugs to connect your speakers.

Good Luck!

P.S.- The system you are looking at will be able to play plenty loud

Please tell us what brand of speakers are available where you are?

I agree with Midcow2 -- avoid Monster products like the plague -- that will help a bit with your "tight budget" right there.

Thanks Midcow, about the cable, would any cable do as long as they have the proper gauge? Or should I still consider other factors?

mazersteven,
KEF, JBL, Yamaha, Onkyo, Bose and probably more but unfortunately I am not familiar with.

And correction to my post, I'll be sticking with RB-51 instead of RB-81 since it doesn't come in pair compared with the RB-51.

Now, would it be a good idea to buy 4 pairs of RB-51 and 1 RW-10? Or is it better to go for a pair of RB-51, 1 RC-62(center) and 1 RW-10?
