Firmware patch for Sony "mura" defect

Has anybody heard of a "fix" being distributed by Sony to correct the "clouding" issue that has plagued their XBR series displays? Was told by CC salesman that Sony has finally responded to the issue, and has released a firmware patch. New deliveries (manufacture date Feb. / Mar.) have the new patch installed, and that the clouding issue is no longer a problem. Any and all input greatly appreciated.

There is quite an mpressive thread on this at avs forum.com. Some feel it does not work. Even here in Australia we have a thread on the issue at dtvforum.info. I have a 40x2000 (the model number for Australian/European sets- as opposed to XBR) that is slightly affected but not enough to worry. Some feel it is not a software issue, and have even loosened some internal/external screws with some success sugesting a possible physical issue.
