I have a Canon GL1 Digital Video Camera which has firewire output that I would like to connect to my Tablet PC to transfer video. The problem is my Motion LE 1600 Tablet only has USB and a DVI-D inputs. Is there an economical way to accomplish this?

Thanks for the information. I was going down the path of a "firewire to USB" cable but this is a much better solution. I placed my card order this morning!

I don't think you can find such a cable as the connections have different specifications (in terms of voltage, bandwidth, etc). You should have confidence ordering from Newegg. They're one of the best e-tailers I've ever dealt with, very helpful, good prices, and FAST.

XP Service Pack 2 Firewire Conflict

After receiving my new card and sitting down at my computer to capture some video I began to experience frequent computer "freezes". This happened both with Windows Movie Maker and Pinnacle Studio 7.

In searching various forums, I discovered that is apparently a problem with XP SP2 and firewire capture. I installed Microsoft's "fix" but still have the problem.

Do I have any hope of getting the video off of my Canon GL1?

Did you make sure to get the most updated drivers from the manufacturer's site? Old drivers can often cause strange problems.
