finally took the plunge

Well i finally went out and slammed down some cash for a LG 52SX4D DLP. I've been looking for probably 4 months now and today was the day......actually next Wednesday when it comes in:( I decided to go with the Lg because of the looks and the price. I pretty well figured that they all have pretty much the same picture quality for my price range and I'm a sucker for a "name brand" My girlfriend gets a good discount (cost +10%) through her work at Visions so why not take advantage. just for the TV I paid 2200 (pretty good deal I think ) plus the stand and the "extended warranty".

As mentioned I got it at Visions ( a canadian company) and I gotta say I was greatly satisfied with their customer serevice and their policies. They are a fairly small chain but very repuatable. The thing that really got me is that on the 4 year externded warranty...... if nothing goes wrong with your tv you get your $300 back in store credit; you won't get that at best buy:D

Anyways just wanted to share the good news. And I can't wait to put up some pictures

Sweet, it is 720P or 1080P? What do you think of it so far?

Its 720p. I gotta tweak it a bit but its a huge improvement from what I had. I sit pretty close ( about 10') so the picture isn't as clear as I hoped. I'm using component cables from my DVD player ( 5 year old RCA POS). I blame it on the dvd player. I hope to get an upconversion one sometime. ( not going to to go the HD route). My room is about 13' long by 10' across. This is probly the biggest Tv I could've got for the room size. I guess bigger is better though:D

Did they also mention that you have about a month to spend that 300 dollars after your warranty expires.. and that they also wont call you to remind you to spend it AND that you must spend it on something over 400 dollars.. I bet the salesperson who sold it to you wont be there in four years to explain himself when you're out the 3 hun.

A 75% discount (albeit after four years) is nothing to sneeze at - find ya one of those free reminder services or tie a string around your finger :). Sorry to say the soft image is probably not due to your DVD player... found this on CNET review - "The bad: Soft image via both component and HDMI inputs; video processing lacks 2:3 pull-down; black levels not as deep as other DLPs'...". If you want to exchange it they have a 30 day trade-in policy - you're just past the 15 day limit on refunds....
