It’s been humorous watching all of us get a little itchy wishing for this… but here we are!
:)

Not too shabby.

Hmmmmmm well Amir unfortunately measured them without a cover piece that is supposed to be used when you take the grills off. That peice is actually part of the waveguide. So it's possible that had a big impact on the testing. He is retesting it so we will just have to see what those results bring

But from the data he provided. The resonances explained some things those were noticeable when I listened to them but it was not unpleasant.

Now if some of that tweeter distortion is still present after the wave guide has been inserted that tweeter is designed to be crossed over higher then what it is in the JBL 590. The Studio 698's I have now have the tweeter crossed over higher where it is supposed to be thanks to that midrange that is making it a 3 way speaker. Which may explain why I liked the 698 more

I felt they were able to play cleaner and with better detail then the 590's

Despite some of its measurements seen in the 590 this is still one of my favorite speakers I've ever owned

I got to hear these when I helped a friend who owns them move to a new place. They had them just standing nilly willy in the living room with a 2 channel receiver hooked up to them while they were unpacking and they sounded great with great bass. I happen to dig the polyplas drivers in many of their designs and they have been around for ages.

I could find no issue with the 590s and I would buy them even after that one haphazard session and at the sale price, I don't really know if there is much in that price range of a tower that would compete with the 590. They hammer and the bass/midbass sounded and felt just right, IMO. The tone seemed trademark JBL to my ears.

I have rarely if ever heard of people not liking the 590's once they have heard them
