Finally ready to run wire ... placement?

I have a 3 sided listening area. The 4th side is open to the dining area. My surround speakers are QS8s and M3Tis. My plan is to mount the M3Tis on the rear wall, one QS8 on the right wall, and but the last QS8 on the Axiom stand that was designed for it. That stand is about 38" tall, putting my tweeter at around 42" off the floor. Is this the same elevation that I want to use for my M3Tis on the rear wall? And for my QS8 on the wall? How far in front of the main listening seat do I want to mount the side surrounds (QS8s)?

Thanks in advance.

Your side surrounds should be about even with the main listening position, if not a little behind it. As far as your rears go, I would mount it so the tweeter would be about that height, perhaps a little higher.

Here is the layout I have to live with. I decided that I would like to place a speaker over on the far left wall. Can I do this and just use an SPL meter to turn the volume on that speaker up to match the levels on the others? Or does it look like that speaker will be just too far away? If I can not mount it on that far wall, then I will have to use a speaker stand, which I would rather not do.

Hm, Thats a tough layout. Although the way you have it is correct, it might not sound right. Have you considered 6.1 :p ?

Is the QS8 on the far wall the one with the stand? If so, why don't you put in behind the chair.

I would keep all the surround speakers the same height. A couple feet above ear level should do fine.

Actually, by moving it to the far wall, I was going to eliminate the stand. I would like to get rid of the stand if I could. Can I move it to that far wall, and calibrate the volume and timing and make it sound ok?

I don't know. You COULD boost the level and delay times, but having it closer should be your goal.

And, if you play movies loudly, you might break it because of the extra power.
