Finally Got My New TV - Again...

I had my replacement tv delivered yesterday. Wow! What an improvement. The picture is much better overall, not perfect, but acceptable.

I had bought a Vizio VX37 a few months back at Costco and the picture was awful. Vizio said it was defective, so I took it back and got another one. The picture was crisper but the colors were completely washed out. This seemed to be the case with all versions of this model I saw. So after reading lots of positive reviews I exhchanged that for a GV42L 42" model.

The colors were nice but the picture on it was out of focus, so I called Vizio and they sent me a replacement board with instruction to contact the service center for install. After leaving several messages with the repair center (outsourced by Vizio) over three weeks and not hearing anything back, I called Vizio and complained. They promised me a new tv would be delivered, but it would take upto 10 biz days. It was delivered yesterday within that time frame.

The picture is better all the way around. It still doesn't compare to some of the other (more expensive) tv's from other brands, but it's not too far off. At $1299 I'm happy. And I can still exchange it at Costco if I decide I want something else.:)

I noticed that the delivery invoice listed an "A" at the end of the model number and the description said "GV42L HDTV - Grade A." I'm assuming that this means it was gone over at the factory before it shipped and doesn't have the quality control issues I've been running into. Either way I can finally start to enjoy some movies.

Its good to see you finally got some satisfaction from Vizio. You should get some sort of award for patience. Vizio should get a quality control program!

A few weeks ago I was tempted by the same Vizio 37" model that gave you so much trouble. Because of your posts here, I passed on that, and instead bought a Sharp 37" HDTV. I've had it nearly two weeks now and I love it. It worked fine out of the box when it was delivered. It cost more, $1119 (including delivery from Abe's of Maine), compared to $945 from a local Sam's Club. After reading about Vizio's spotty quality control, the difference of $174 was worth it to me.

Thanks for all your efforts. Now you can start enjoying some of that HD!

At least Vizio resolved his problem. Samsung doesn't even care nearly that much about their customer.
