New Medium Enterprises (NME) recentely briefed the press and dealers at CEDIA Expo, they're introducing a new format into the fray, called HD VMD (high defenition versatile multilayer disc), it's based on new hardware developed by NME, it's a low cost red-laser based player to be sold through their site, Amazon and PC Rush. The player will sport 1080p DVD up-conversion, native HD output of 1080p/24fps, it will support hdmi 1.3 and will carry an msrp of 199.99 dollars (ML-777) for their top line model. They plan to license their technology to CE manufacturers "to help drive the market for the fledgling format" WHAT!!!!
