Felt turntable mat or rubber

Hi, I own a gemini turntable, I have a felt platter mat that came with it, or a rubber one. Which mat should I be using? Does it matter? I feel like the rubber one has better traction, but some people have told me felt. What do you guys think?

I haven't used a turntable in years, but I remember that I had an anti-static mat that I got from (I believe) Radio Shack. It went on top of the rubber mat that came with the turntable. Kept the dust collection down, and that was nice.
