I have a problem that I can't seem to find a workaround for....

I have my HD Digital Satellite and my Upscaling DVD player hooked up to the 2600 through its HDMI inputs and the video signal output via HDMI to my Panasonic 50 inch 50PX500U plasma.

I listen to the digital radio channels a lot through my digital satellite provider. When I turn off the TV, the 2600 does not play the music being fed to it from the sat box via HDMI.

Before using HDMI, I had component outputs to the tv, and a optical output to the amp and there was no problem....I could turn off the tv, and still get output from the amp. Now, with HDMI, the audio output is still being sent to the 2600 and I have the HDMI audio set in the amp's menu as not rerouting it to "other", and I still have the audio shut off when I turn off the tv.

Why am I not getting audio output from the amp via HDMI when my TV is turned off?

Thanks in advance and let me know if there is a workaround....

HDMI requires a handshake between the source (satellite) and sink (TV) devices. The receiver is just a repeater in between the two. Although HDMI is carrying both the audio and video, the handshake no longer occurs when the TV is off.

I think you will need a digital connection from the sat to the receiver to get the audio but I don't know if that receiver can be configured to send the audio over both HDMI and optical/coax digital at the same time.
