I previously posted that I was looking to get 5 speakers + sub, within a budget of under $1000, to be used with an HK AVR130. I've gotten some great suggestions and I'm hoping someone can offer me some direct comparison between the systems suggested. (I know I need to get out and listen for myself but I'm very pressed for time and there seems to be a wealth of knowledge and experience here).

The suggestions are as follows:
1. HKTS 14
2. Cambridge SoundWorks Newton MC100.2
3. 2 pr DV62si Bookshelves, 1 DV62CLR Center

I'm looking for clear, crisp sound for movies and video games, but with plenty of boom for loud music. Any comparisons, opinions, or new suggestions are greatly appreciated. My girlfriend thinks I should seek professional help for my obsession with sound...this site proves that I'm not alone, and that I still have tons to learn.

Thanks.

Speaker Options

I think that the BICs are the best option on your list. Something comparable in price and performance would be a couple pairs of Athena AS-B1 bookshelf speakers and the AS-C1. Remember to save at least $100 for the subwoofer.
