Hi everybody,
Im getting close to purchasing accoustical treatments for my HT, and I wanted to get feedback from those experienced in this arena. Im considering purchasing accoustical treatments from Auralex. As of right now, my room has no treatments other than drapes, furniture, carpet, etc..etc....
If anyone has alternative links offering comperable or better quality treatments for less money......... IM ALL EARS!!!! I have no interest in DIY treatments, and I'm only considering inexpensive quality premade stuff. While I want to treat my room sonically, I dont want to spend a fortune either!!!!
I'll start by posting my beautiful artwork depicting my humble HT layout

First of all, I was kicking around the idea of buying this 16-pack of 2"x2'x2' foam panels.

My plan is as follows..........
1. Place 4 of them evenly spaced above my tall 65" RPTV horizontally on the front wall.
2. Place 2 together above the couch to catch that pesky reflection point.
3. Place 2 more spaced out along the same wall as the couch.
4. Place 2 on back wall over subwoofer.
5. Place 2 on short 5.5' sidewall near the Left surround.
6. Place 2 on the front portion of the 5.5' sidewall
7. Place 2 on the short 5.5' sidewall near my LF speaker
Next come bass traps(8pack)........

I would mount these in corners up near the ceiling.
1. Place 1+1 vertically in each front corner on either side of TV(high up)
2. Place 1 vertically in corner over subwoofer
3. Place 2 horizontally along back face of ductwork as it meets with 90degree angle of ceiling facing primary seating(ductwork extends down 14" from ceiling)
4. Place 1 horozontally in left corner by windows.(windows too close to allow verticle placement)
That leaves me with two leftovers I was thinking about putting both of those with the 2 in the front corners so the traps in front would be double length. I'm also a little concerned that the front left corner isnt a 90degree corner because the bass trap wont fit snugly into the corner. Will it matter??
Total cost is $259+$299=$558
What do the experts think of my plan??
Will this make a big improvement in sound quality?
Does anyone have a better 'non-DIY' plan for less than $600?
Are the Auralex treatments a good value??
PS...I was also considering buying a 3-pack of these 2'x4' base trap panels.

I would mount them diagionally in the corners front left/right of my TV, and one in the corner back by the sub.
From what I can tell by ratings, I get the impression that the foam traps will do a better job. I would not buy these 'in addition' to the foam traps..... It's an either or proposition.
