FCC Ruling Requires Labeling Analog TVs

This past Wednesday, the FCC ruled that electronic retailers will have to post warning stickers on any left-over analog televisions that are still being sold out of inventory. The Commission already had ruled that all new TVs, VCRs, DVD recorders include digital ATSC tuners as of March 1 of this year. Technically making them digital devices. Some retailers are still trying to get rid of leftover inventory from last year.

I can't wait until 2009 when they shut off analog broadcasting. When they do you know there are going to be those people that didn't know it was going to happen and going nuts on their TVs. Just imagine some redneck hitting and cursing at his television, classic.:D

Yea...no kidding!!

The media will play it up big when it happens, and yes.... it certainly will happen. I can see multitudes of news stories in the near future discussing the plight the unfortunate 'victims' of the digital age. I'm sure there will be calls for government subsidized digital tuners for the entire analog population.

You just wait and see.... LOL

Why don't they go a step further and require a voucher for a digital converter to be included for all analog sets sold since the the cut off date was announced?

They did ear mark millions of dollars for those poor folks who can afford a TV but can't afford to buy a digital converter, didn't they?

That's an excellent idea, it would kill two birds - get the government off the hook and you know that many people, like with rebates, won't claim them or will lose them, sparing the gov a lot more expense than you would expect under such a program.
