I have a question that I hope you'll answer. My setup is listed below. My living room is 1440cu.ft. My Denon amp has ATMOS or 7.1. I have a pair of Klipsch RSX-4 speakers that are unused and up for sale. Today I was thinking today of either using them high on the walls as the height channel or as rear surrounds. What would you do?

Hi Gene,

I am looking at building a new house with a dedicated home theatre room. I am not sure to go with a acoustic transparent screen or not. One salesmen will tell me its the only way to go but the next will say don't do it as it affects the sound to much. I currently have some very nice front speakers and in some ways it would be a shame to put them behind a screen. but then by not putting them behind i will be compromising the screen size.

Do you have any opinion on the losses of audio from putting speakers behind the screen? and will it also affect the picture quality.

PS. love the unbiased information you guys put up.

Thanks
John

I would go with a bigger acoustic transparent screen then having a smaller screen any day. I have a pair high end speakers(Thiel 3.7) No center channel and it sounds awesome. I lose very little with the screen down in both audio and video. Well I don't have anything to compare the video but it looks darn good. I have a 120" Seymour AT screen. I have my Anthem D2v correcting audio up to 5K. Projector is an JVC RS56.
