Fabric for acoustical panels

I put some curtains in my room today. I want to build some acoustical panels for the room and think the fabric the curtains are made of would look nice. The room is very formal so I do not want to use burlap. The fabric is 100% polyester. If you hold it up without the lining you can see alot of light through it, it is also very easy to blow air through it. Do you guys think it will work. thank you in advance.

Yes, if you can easily blow through it, it will work. I used polyester too.

I used some black burlap for my acoustic panels that I found at walmart. At first I thought they would look pretty.. well terrible. But actually they dont! I think they might have if i used the lighter colored burlap they carried though.

The other great thing about synthetics is that they don't burn the way natural fibers do..they melt instead. Not great if you're the one getting melted on, but the point is that they don't transfer flame to other surfaces.
