Eye opening insight in movie sound!

This was an eye opening insight into the evolution into movie sound from the very beginning, even before with silent films. This was fascinating! I hope you can watch it free as I did. I have YouTube premium so I'm not sure if that's why I watched it free. If you can it's amazing.

Really fascinating I thought. Watched it just this morning. Boy they didn't give Dolby much love at in this. DTS I don't think even got a mention so it wasn't on the big sound technology companies. It was just the evolution of sound in film.

Started watching on my phone and wife overheard, got interested, so it is now on the bedroom 60" TV,.
Rocking the sound thru a Marantz integrated and a pair of small Wharfs

It's actually in DD+ which surprised me because I didn't think YouTube did anything at all in DD 5.1.

That must be new? I thought they were still 2.0.

And yes. Movie sound making is really cool. Watching stuff like this makes me think of looking behind the wizards curtain though. Lol

I'm assuming because this was a full on documentary and just a YouTube video? It's the first non run of the mill YouTube video I've ever watched so I have no idea. I also started my YouTube premium sub about a week ago so I have no idea of that has anything to do with it. It was full on DD+ 5.1 with cool sound from all over the room though.

UPDATE: Moved upstairs to 5.2.4 HT and "Making Waves" on regular YT is a stereo signal, no DD 5.1 option.

At least Hetfield is getting something for his $$.

Cheers,
XEagleDriver

EDIT: Full disclosure, using a Firestick, the one just below the 4k model.
Don't know if that has any impact on 5.1 signal availability.

Actually I'm in my free trial period but man I was just so sick of the ads on YouTube I couldn't take it anymore. You get 3 months free but I don't see me cancelling, because again I really hate the commercials on YouTube. It's nice just watching videos with no commercials beforehand or during videos.

Thanks for the link, don't think I've seen this one yet. FWIW it shows me a link in your post saying since it is age-restricted I have to watch on youtube.com and I had to sign in to google/youtube to prove my age....

ps FWIW I did the multi month free trial last year and just waiting for another one, not quite worth it to me otherwise....so far they're only offering two weeks. I don't remember getting any multich sound, tho....that could be more interesting if they've upped their audio game.
