What do you guys think of the Bic DV64 or DV84 Floor Speakers for my L/R fronts. These would both keep my front's under $300 a pair. Also what center channel speaker would you suggest be paired with the Bic's if I was to go that route? How do these compare to the Pioneer FS52's? I know these are completely underneath what you guys would buy, but I am not looking for something spectacular.

Thanks
No. I don't think so. :D
You are putting money into the cabinet. Put the money in the drivers and subs.

All,

Do I need upscaling on the new AVR? This is how far I am behind the technology curve - currently I do not even own a flat screen tv and do not have HDTV. My new projector (Epson 8350) set up will be my first HDTV setup in my home. I know I live in the stone ages, but I believe in not replacing anything until it dies and my standard tv's are still going strong.

Nice feature to have for future-proofing, but not necessary for many of us. Not a deal-breaker for many of us.

Any opinions on the Polk Monitor 65T? Newegg has a decent deal on them now.

Newegg will always have a deal on the Polk Monitors, so don't feel rushed to buy anything. As for the speakers themselves, I dislike their sound, you really should hear them and compare them to other speakers before you buy.

Where the funds went. The entertainment center is for my two boy's WII playing only.

What I have so far:

Bought
Yamaha rx-v673
Sony BP-5100S Blu Ray
NHT Superzero 2.0 (Surrounds - 5.1 system) The room is wired for 7.1, but starting with 5.1 only - You can see from the photos my problem mounting one of the surrounds so I went small.
Epson 8350 Projector (which you see in the pictures)
All wiring and terminations purchased from Monoprice

Known items yet to buy
URC RFS200 RF Remote Control System

Screen was spray painted by the gentleman I hired to paint the space. We used the Sherwin Williams paint that has been written about in forums as the best painted screen for less than $100. Framed it out with trim painted matte black. Looks like a white board because of spraying it. Have streamed some material from my laptop and looks really good. Picking up HDTV cable box tonight. I ran a ton of CAT6 cable so that I can send information on my computer network to the AV equipment room plus send information from the cable modem, which is in my storage area to the AV equipment room.

I really do not want to spend more than $1000 on fronts and sub right now as this project took on a life of its own and budget got away from us. I got a great deal on the Yamaha ($250) and the NHT Superzero's are considered E stock and paid $60 a piece for them. As you can see I am not opposed to B stock or refurbished items.

This forum has been very helpful as I second guess my speakers.

Since you have those fantastic NHT SZ, why not just get 3 more SZ so that you will have 5 identical speakers for perfect timbre matching?

I would just hang all the SZ on the wall also.

Then get the Rythmik LV12, which is flat from 19Hz-300Hz. Just set your XO to 120Hz all around.

I actually currently set my XO to 120Hz with absolutely no adverse sound effects. :D

Nathan Funk recommended that I try setting my XO higher up to experiment. And it seems to work great.

When I had the SZ for over 10 years, I never heard any adverse sound effects when I set the XO to 100Hz either.
