extracting a recording from a DVR

I have recorded a segment on my DVR which I would like to be able to transfer to my web site. Can anyone tell me how to accomplish this? Thanks

From what I've researched most dvr's make it quite difficult to extract the recorded data due to hdcp crap, and the other copyright laws. Probably your best bet is to get in inexpensive usb video capture adapter and record it on your pc at whatever kind of resolution you can get out of the composite or svideo outputs of the dvr.

If you’re not happy with what you get from the USB adapter, you could try a DVD recorder.

There two ways to get this done. First easier one:
If you DVR have firewire port - I'd try that first.
If your pc/mac don't have firewire port - the controllers are cheap to get
