external Amp turn on when no trigger

Considering a Behringer A500 or EP1500 Amp to power my Non-powereed subs.

I don't see any built-in 12v trigger on the Behringer's. I will be running this from my Yamaha RX-V659 sub out.

Is there a manufacture that makes a 12v relay to turn on a 110V power strip ?

I guess if I had to I could get a 110v relay and run it off one of the 569 powered plugs.

I have seperate 20A circut wall outlets to run my various components from and would like to take full advantage of this while having a Auto startup when the 569 is turned on.

I've never used a 12V trigger, so I might be mistaken here, but I believe that my Belkin PureAV PF31D will do what you're talking about. Mine wasn't expensive, and I think there are cheaper ones that will do it, too.

I think you can buy a relay to turn on a power strip but I'd go with Adam's solution - a power conditioner. Not so much because it will vastly improve your audio or video but more because it is very convenient to plug everything into it and you can get features like delayed turn-on/off, triggers, etc.

I must be missing something here, I went to the Belkin Website and looked up all of their power conditionrs including the PureAV PF31D. I do not see where they state that they can be remotely turned on either by 12v trigger or act as a relay from 110V. I dont see how I could use this to run from 2 circuts at with a remote turn on.

Maybe I did not make clear my intent. I will be running seperate 110v 20 amp circuts. one of which my Yamaha RX-V569 will be on the the other would be the Behringer Amp. Since the Behringer does not have a remote turn-on trigger, I would need to connect it to a relay of some type so that it would power up when the 569 is turned on. The idea of the relay is to run the 2 amplifiers from 2 seperate 20A circuts from the house main for maximum power under high demand.

You have to find the manuals for the Belkin units to find out which models offer a trigger or sequenced turn-on. The summary on the website doesn't tell the whole story. There are other power conditioners that definitely offer the feature - like APC and Panamax.

However, you have to connect all the equipment to the power conditioner to make it work. If you plugged the power conditioner into one 20A circuit and the receiver and amp into it, you could achieve what you want. There are models that are specifically designed for 20A although maybe not Belkin.

If you want to connect the receiver and amp directly to the wall outlets then you need a totally different solution. Maybe X10 makes modules that could do what you want.

Just some additional info, here's a picture of the back of a Belkin unit (PF60, I think) in the thread from yesterday:

http://forums.audioholics.com/forums/showthread.php?t=32864&page=2

There's an AC and a DC remote trigger. Mine has the same thing. Mine also has the two "high current" amp outlets. There was at least one other thread on this forum about connecting amplifiers directly to the wall or into a power strip like these, with some people saying that dealers told them to plug directly into the wall, and several other people said that they used the strips without any problems.

I use an APC conditioner for just this purpose. Works fine....

Thanks ADAM for the link / Picture. Seems like Belkin would sell more of these if they would give a full description. I already have 2 APC UPS but not relay remote start and can not use one in the way I'm thinking about doing it. The Belkin DOES fit the bill.

Mike C; Thats what I was thinking about doing if push came to shove.
I could build it for next to nothing since I have all but the relay
laying around In my left over project parts bins. Thats a cheap price
for that relay even if it is only 10A.
I have used Omron before for various other projects, never had any
quality issues. Have to add Surge protector or line conditioner to
the setup.

The APC H10 has a trigger input. It also has two delayed oulets (adjustable) so your amp will turn on a few seconds after your pre or receiver. Got mine new on Ebay for cheap....

Sounds like you could also use a Furman sequencer.
Just leave your amps turned on, and the sequencer has a trigger, and can turn things on with a pause in between so you dont blow a circuit.
I've used them a bunch at a past job, and they worked great.

Specific models: PS-8R, PS-8R series 2, PS Pro series 2.

Hope this helps.

I don't know if this item will solve your problem but I used it to turn my three channel amp on and off when my prepro was turned on and off. It connects to the 12 Volt trigger on the pre pro and the AC line. It's for sale on Audiogon because I now use a Belkin PF 60 and don't need it. Don
