Hello,

First, thank you for all your previous help – I have another question though.

As previously mentioned I am looking at avr-x4700h for 5.2.4 setup with:
2 towers - 1 center – 2 surrounds – (all 6 ohm).
4 ceiling speakers – (all 8 ohm).
2 powered subs.

Room 20’ x 15’ x 8’ ceiling. - use for both music and movies.
Moderate volume levels mostly – (beer is known to increase volume though).

9 channels total would be driven by Denon internal amp.

I am thinking of getting an Emotiva A-300 (for LR) and a Dayton APA150 bridged (for C).
This leaves the 2 surround and 4 ceiling speakers to be powered by 4700 internal amp.

This would take some load off 4700 - decrease heat and increase power output to the surrounds and ceiling speakers
– right ?

I recall Gene Dellasala recommending externally amping for LCR – more headroom n-stuff.

I also plan to use an Aircom - AC infinity cooling fan system with the 4700.

Unless maybe I’m listening at really high volume levels (lots of beer) – will the external amping provide cleaner better sound ?

Are adding the amps (or maybe just amp) worth while for cleaner sound, more headroom, less heat, and or other benefits ?

Almost forgot – I have a 2 ch. 50 watt/ch Emotiva (non-bridgeable) flex fusion amp – I can’t think of where to use it though – Let me know if you see a use for it – was used for surrounds in previous 5.1.

That lots of beer part probably defines max level and cleaner sound well enough in one way or the other :)

Having more amp capability can yield cleaner output at higher volumes if your speakers can handle it without adding their own problems.

Without knowing info about what your specific situation is, i.e. what spl levels and at what distance from the speakers, hard to know.

The amp, depends on the rest but likely not very useful except in another setup if you're concerned about amp power now.

Other than taking a load off the receiver going from 125 watts to 150 watts is not going to make a difference.

Now these they'll make your receiver and your speakers feel like Popeye eating Spinach o_O

I think Maz does that just for validation from me! :p :D

I love the Outlaw Monoblocks. I got 5. While they are on sale, absolutely the best buy in Amplification!!!

I am not a fan of Mix/matched Amps on your Front 3. Get a 3-channel, or these Monoblocks. Keep them powered the same. I have never seen a Dayton Amp bench tested and reviewed with great aplomb. Perhaps never even reviewed.

Anyway... Get your front 3 taken care of if you choose. Put an AC Infinity on top of your AVR... great insurance policy whether you need it or not... and enjoy. :)

*side note:
You may not really need an amp depending on your situation, but lets face it... sometimes its just what we want, and who am I to judge. :) ...Considering I have 5 monoblocks on my Front 3 + Surrounds. :D

The SPL Calculator is super useful in helping understand your needs.

They surely add to the Cool factor. Unless your Lovin. No amount of Cool can help him.

Thanks much - after a closer look at the dayton amp reviews - I'm no longer interested - The Outlaw amp though WOW looks great - I'm sold - The SPL calculator link is also great - thanks

Like you said I'm not sure I need the extra amp(s) - but I do want them.

Quick question - will the (1.4v - 1.6v) input sensitivity work well with Denons 4700 pre-outs ?
