Extension wire

In my HT set up receiver is on left corner of the room and sub woofer on right (about 13 feet) Can I plug in extension wire into switched power supply of the receiver for the sub woofer? Can the receiver handle it? Will the sub woofer get enough juice?

The receiver is Sony STRV333ES (little older) and sub woofer is Velodyne DPS-12.

don't plug the subwoofer to the receiver, it can only supply a few watts (fit for cd/dvd players)

I believe the DPS-12 has a signal sense feature that automatically turns on the sub
