extending phono ground cable?

Hi, I have a Technics 1200 turntable that has two RCA outs and a ground plug to hook up to the receiver. I've had no trouble finding a female-female RCA plug and a pair of RCA wires to extend them to my receiver; however, I cannot find a way to extend the ground cable to the receiver. It is a spade plug, but it is not a spade the size of speaker wire ends, it is much smaller. I have to have the ground set up because otherwise the turntable makes a hell of a lot of surface noise. Does anyone know a way to extend a ground cable of this size?
Thanks,
Dan

Hi, Dan. All you need to do is complete the electrical connection between that ground cable and the grounding pin on your receiver. You could use any electrically conductive wire, preferably one with an insulating outer sheath (even speaker wire). You'd strip both ends of the extension wire, connect one end (just bare wire) to the small spade on the ground cable, and connect the other end (just bare wire) to the grounding pin on the receiver. I'm assuming that the receiver has a grounding pin with a screw down outer nut to secure the bare wire.

I'd also wrap the connection between the original grounding wire and the extension wire with electrical tape. It makes for a more secure connection, as well as covering the conductive material.
