Am I mistaken in the belief that Yamaha is the only producer that adds the HiFi DSP programs to their receivers? I mean the Munich concerthall etc. , not the 'normal' Dolby DSP programs etc.

I sure some of you have tested these DSP's, what is your experience? Does it work, does it make normal stereo CD's sound better, or is it just a gimmick that you will stop using quite soon after you got the receiver?

I recently picked up a 2500 and I've messed around with the DSP a bit... I don't tend to like it much for music. It definately does work, I just prefer to simply use 2 Channel Stereo or maybe the 7 Channel option even though I'm currently only running 5 speakers.

I like the Neo 6 for CD music as much as I liked running Pure Direct.. it seems to sound very clear. the Music hall ones worked very poorly, to me, at least, on the CD's (Martina McBride- White Christmas) and concert dvd's I tried (Elton John and the Moody Blues and the voices picked up a strange reverb), but the general cinema worked just fine for the same purpose.

I used the THX setting on the Star Wars trilogy and the spectacle setting for Fifth Element and Big Trouble in Little China. I couldn't tell any difference between SciFi and Adventure. I guess I'll stick with THX for encoded disks, but go with the spectacle for most of my movies.

I don't really need 58 settings, but at least the three I plan to use most were included in that 58. :)

Looks like we use our 2500's almost identically. :)
