Audyssey stores the settings it established when you ran it so when you go back and check them they will look unchanged. However, the manual settings are what your receiver is actually using unless you go back and tell it to restore the saved Audyssey settings. On my 2807 if I run Audyssey settings unchanged a small green light shows on the front of the receiver. If I leave Audyssey on and change the settings like speaker size the light turns red to show I’m still using EQ but with manually altered settings. If I turn EQ off the light is off. I’m not sure if your receiver has the lights or not.

If you leave Audyssey running and change some settings manually it still applies the EQ curve you selected along with the changes you made manually.

Confusing is putting it mildly. The Denon manual stinks. And it took me a month to figure out how to get the onscreen display working. Had to use the LEDs on the receiver until figured it out, which made navigation even more difficult. Also it took me a week to figure out the EQ wasn’t applied automatically. You have to turn it on even after you run the auto setup. Ok, my first reading of the manual could have been better but it still stinks.

Sad thing is that once I figured it all out I realized that because of my room acoustics the EQ was setting the voice frequency ranges to -6dB to -9dB for all my speakers which made them sound hollow and tinny. It did smooth out the bass but the trade-off wasn’t worth it.

I have an integra and I like the auto set up function but I had to manualy set up the speaker size. It likes to set them all as large, even the surrounds... which really pulls away from some of the sound in the towers up front for some reason. If I set them to small however it looses something I can't describe.. so I set it up to play the towers as large and just revved up the DB a bit.
