Without a change in the 21CFR regulations that designate these colors as GRAS (generally Recognized as Safe), they can be put back in when the winds change

I mean, while I applaud these gestures[*] to fight against synthetic food colors and sugar added to nearly everything, it's not all great news on the food regulation front:
Let me remind you all of what happened with un-regulated milk in the past:

[*] - I said gestures, because it's nothing but gestures. It will take literally 30 minutes before the big food lobbyist comes in with a bribe donation to Trump and will quietly roll it back.

Agree. I think we should cheer when they (accidentally or occasionally) get it right and condemn for all the things they do wrong, that will be most of the time. FDA's Foods Division (CFSAN) was a mess from as long as I have been keeping track i.e. early 1990's.
