EV-ZX4 vs Dynacord D12

Can someone let me know what they think about the following two speakers: EV-ZX4 and Dynacord-D12 - The speakers are both passive and to be driven with the Dynacord 1000 desk. They are both rated 8 Ohm. The main difference I see is the internal set up with the EV-ZX4 using a 15"-Woofer and an ND3 1.25"-neodymiumdriver for the higher frequencies. The Dynacord D12 uses a 3 Way Fullrangesystem, 12/6/1". The speakers are to be used for a small band. My main question is, from user experience, what speakers are more likely to produce a "true" tone and quality? Any replies appreciated

Ev zx4

Hey,
The EV ZX-4's are a great 15" 2-way speaker. I've ran a pair in my mobile DJ setup the last 2 years. The only issue I've had with them is the top of the cabinet rattles a little when pole mounted, but other than that, great speaker. You'll want a minimum 500-watt amp to drive them though. I use a QSC GX7 for mine which is 725 watt per side for 8 ohm load and the ZX's eat up all that power. I've never heard of Dynachord gear, but I would much rather run a 15" speaker than a 12", especially for a band, but I guess it depends what you're using it for. If it's just vocals, then the dynachord might work for you. In my 14 years as a DJ, the ZX-4 is the cleanest sounding speaker I've owned (and I think I've owned just about every brand out there. The only thing in my mind that compares is the JBL MR or SR series, but you're looking at more expense to get into those. Compare the stats on each & see what works for your application. I always look at the sensitivity of the speaker first cuz that's usually a good measure of the quality of the drivers IMO.
