Hello,
I'm a little confused about how to round out my home electronics. I've got a variety of gear but need a good A/V receiver to tie it all together, I think. Currently I have a SONY KV-36XBR400 HDTV capable TV, with a SONY SAT-HD300 DirecTV receiver for HD, a SONY DVP-NS725P DVD player, but no surround speakers or A/V receiver. For music, I have a ADCOM GFA-555II preamp, ADCOM GFP-555II Amp, and GFT-555II tuner, driving KEF model 103/4 refence series. I picked the ADCOMs and KEFs up off a friend for $800 total, they seem like pretty good gear. Questions; what type of A/V receiver do I need? Can I leverage the ADCOM equipment for surround sound, or keep my music and surround separate, tied together with the A/V receiver? What about surround speakers, leave the KEFs to music and get dedicated surround speakers, or use the KEFS for the front channels? What do you think of the Cambridge Soundworks Classic series, or Klipsch systems? I'm thinking of the DENON 3805 or Harmon Kardon AVR-630, but not sure yet. Thanks.
