Equilibrium: The Untold Story

I must say,

I try to keep up with movies these days, and I see the commercials, but this movie(when it came out) slipped under my radar. It was quite some time after it came out before I experienced its matrix killing kung fu grip.

I was hesitant at first, as I really like to pre-judge movies (bite me:p ). But, my trustworthy friend said "Dude, this moive effing rockzors!" How can I argue with that?

Into the dvd player, up with the volume, and recline with the chair. Wow. not only is there good sound and pretty decent picture, the story is interesting, and quite very plausible. I can see humans doing something this drastic to continue existance. Note: nothing has been given away.

I highly recommend this movie to anyone. No matter what movies you like, you will like this one. Great plot, great actors, and great action. I myself am now training in gunkutta.:)

This movie was a rip off of the Matrix and The dark tower series by Steven King. I enjoyed it myself:p . I found it to be pretty cheesy, but a decent action flick. I like Christian Bale and the character he played was indeed very cool. I've only ever seen this on the movie network (Canada's HBO) so I can't comment on the sound or picture quality on the DVD, but I'd say it's worth a gander for sci-fi/action movie/B-movie fans like myself (and SHeep I'd assume).

Thats gun-kata :p

I concur, I don't see why this budget action flick has such a cult following. Granted, the part where he takes-out an entire busfull of soldiers to save the trunk full of puppies is cute. Bale is pretty good for the role, but the rest of the production is just so ho-hum.

Farenheit 451 anyone? I've owned this movie for over a year. Definitely a bit cheezy, almost made for TV movie, but I enjoyed most of it too. Especially the first scene in the dark. Good surround on that one and just a very interestingly shot scene. :D The thing that really distanced it from The Matrix was the lack of BULLET TIME, which was WAY overdone as a result. It's not a great movie, but it is a good popcorn flick, IMO - fun and worth a watch.

I guess I can't talk too much, Highwaymen is one of my favorite movies from the last few years (Come on.... its the greatest 'drive-in' movie never shown at one), despite its lack of good characters, a decent script, or making too much sense. It has a nice simple hook tho' "Dodge = Good. Cadillac = Bad. They chase each other and stuff".

Hey, I liked Immortal, but not this one. Had possibilities, but the script was lame (and cheesy:D ).

Sheep, I thought this movie was very good. I did not see any problems with the production quality or anything else; but then again, I love a lot of movies considered bad by most others[I loved the Alien Avengers and Alien Avengers II].

Check out American Psycho,

I think Bale is awesome cause he is sucha physical actor with very little to no stuntman replacement involved.

Other Great But Underrated films:

True Romance
Akira
Ghost in The Shell
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (remake 2004)
Point Break
American History X

Akira? I totaly agree. Havent heard of the other ones though.

I also am becoming a Christian B. fan pretty quickly. After watching Equilibrium a few times i had to go and see Batman the Begining and was impressed yet again. Both very very good movies.

Bale is very good in American Psycho also. If you want to see another great performance by him, check out The Machinist.

Point Break.....? I liked it, but underrated?

If you like Akira, you'll want to check out Steamboy (from the same director) also. The story isn't really there, IMO, but the visuals are solid.

Akira is underrated? It was the anime film export for nearly a decade. In a world before Pokemon and Miyazaki movies on DVD Akira was the only piece of Japanese animation you could get (except for maybe Speed Racer reruns at 3am) on American TV since 1987. It has been critically popular and economically succesful in every format its been released on, even badly dubbed S-VHS tapes.

I guess "lesser known" might be a better term for Akira. It isn't that it's underrated, because it really isn't. It is STILL referred to as one of the best anime of all time. Some of Miyazaki's good stuff is actually older than Akira :) , we just never saw it here... In fact, one of the key animators on Akira I believe got started in anime by working with Miyazaki.
