ok, i've got a denon 685 receiver and a audio source eq 8 equalizer. the owners manual wasn't included so i have no idea how to hook it up. i have my cd player hooked up directly to the receiver. i've looked on audio source's website but couldn't find anything on how to hook it up. any help would be greatly appreciated! here is a photo of the back of my receiver.

Between the preamp outputs and the main amp inputs.

You probably have the equalizer set to bypass mode. The equallizer just loops the input and output straight through in that case.

Keep in mind I don't own one of the receivers. So helping you is going to be a matter of trial and error.

Like was already said, the EQ should be hooked into the pre-out and the main-in connections. You pull out the little U shaped jumpers and use patch cables to the eq.

The pre-out on the denon should connect to something like line-in on the eq. Then the main-in on the denon should connect to something like main-out on the eq.

After that, you need to look at the buttons on the eq and see if there is one labeled "Bypass" and a power button. Make sure the eq is powered on, and slide all the little eq knobs down all the way.

Press the bypass button on/off. That should make a difference in the sound. If not, try unpluging one of the cables between the eq and the amp see what sound you get out of your speakers. You should not get any sound with the patch cable removed from that channel.

If you do get sound, with the wire unplugged the you need to look at the receiver settings. If you don't get sound with the wire plugged, need to look at eq settings.

Assuming it doesn't work this time, post up all you settings related to either the eq or receiver depending upon what happens with the wire unplugged.

.....PanicPhan, that button engaged, means the eq's settings will be passed along to a recording made....
