I'm taking a break from the semester of sadness to let everyone know the Epson 8500 UB is up for preorder. I really can't say I expected such an outstanding price point (even with rebate) for this or the PT-AE4000U. I haven't had time to read any reviews or comparisons, but I think this thing is probably worth the extra $300 bucks for the amazing warranty alone.

BTW, sorry if this was brought up in another thread - I sort of checked, but not very closely. :)

Thank you. Now get back to your thesis!

Nice price!

I have the Pro 7500UB and have been wondering how much of an improvement the Pro 9500UB will be.

Great link. Going by only "Picture Quality", that would be a pretty hard choice for me. The thing that my PJ does very well, even compared to a plasma, is straight up "contrast", but it will give it up with the deeper blacks in such a comparison. I think I vote for contrast, IOW, the Panasonic. That's a toughie.

Of course, if one demands a significantly brighter image, or the best blacks for the dollar, looks like Epson is the easy winner.

I've had my Epson for almost a year. So far it's been awesome. So I'd vote for the Epson. The 6500UB received rave reviews all last year. This should be a significant improvement.
