EP2500 Question

Okay here's the deal I have an EP2500. I have two eD 190V.2 D4 subwoofers I plan on wiring in parallel to drop down to 2 ohms. I will be running the EP2500 in stereo mode with a Maelstrom-X thats 4 ohm. Is it okay running an amp in stereo with different impedance?

The EP 2500 is able to handle a 2 ohm load. The channel that is connected to the two ohm load will be able to deliver twice the power as the one connected to the four ohm load. The spl will depend on the relative spl of the subs and their proximity.

Just adjust the gain from your Maelstrom to match the one of the two other eD subs.
And if that amp (EP 2500) has a Balance control, you got even more adjustment options.

* That must be a very powerful amp indeed!

About getting another one, then you can add a fourth sub?

Here's the annoying thing. My Maelstrom-X is the original 4 ohm version. I wish I could get another 4 ohm Maelstrom-X so I could run them Parallel in stereo with my other subs and be getting my full 2x 1200W at 2 ohms. However they changed the Mal-X to 2 ohm .

Its basically a sealed 24" cube. I used Willd's cutsheet from AVS. Not the most intricate build but these things hit low. Really low

Could you explain this a bit more? I thought that if I wired the two eD 190V.2s in a series on one channel of the amp that would raise them to 8 ohm. Then I would still have the Mal-X on the other channel as a 4 ohm. Wouldn't that result in the same thing except less power going to each 190V.2?

I'm very new to DIY stuff so I appreciate any advice I get.

No, two ohms X 2 in series is 4 ohms.

I would not put the drivers in series, that may change system Qt.

You can compensate for differing sensitivities with the sub volume controls, which is the better solution.

If the drivers are in series the sensitivity will be up 3 db over a single driver, if they are side by side 6 db. In series the sensitivity will be down 3 db.
