I'm a college student looking for a good entry level sub. I live in an apartment, and probably will until I'm out of grad school (6 more years plus the rest of this year?) So the room it's in isn't overly large, and I don't have a ton of spare cash. I don't have a set budget for this, so I was just seeing if you guys could point me in the direction of some good entry level subs.

Thanks.

The Dayton sub 120 is the consensus pick for budget subs. It goes for ~$150 from parts express or audioholics store. If you have any woodworking skills and friends/relatives with some workspace, the DIY Kappa build is pretty straight forward and can be built for around $300 (driver, cabinet materials and amp) if you can find some deals.

The Hsu STF1 is pretty good. It doesn't go very deep, but it will play pretty tight. Also give the STF2 a look.

The BIC Acoustech PL-200 looks pretty good. Also worth looking at is the BIC Acoustech H100

The Elemental Designs A2-250 would be pretty good for its price. Also check out the ED A3s-250 and the A2-300.

For budget subs I second the Dayton and HSU recommendations. Assuming your budget is around $150-250 they should provide the biggest bang for buck. I know many people like the BIC H-100, I have never heard it but would suggest searching the forums for reviews.

I'd go with the HSU STF-1 or Aperion 8A for a budget sub in an apartment. I think the STF-1 is on sale right now.

The subwoofers from the speaker company also offer a lot of bang for that buck.
