Entry Level Receiver

My Kenwood 5.1 receiver finally went kaput after 15 years. It was state of the art back in it's day so now I'm looking for a new one. For an entry level receiver I'm looking at Yamaha or Denon. I'm a paralyzed veteran and don't have the big bucks I wish I had like some of the audiophiles here. Also I'm using a Micro Seiki turntable also so a phono hook up is a must. I'm looking to spend between $300.00 to $600.00. Does anyone have any advice or other suggestions for other receivers?

first of all, what are your speakers? what is their wattage capacity?
or
what was the wattage output of your previous receiver?

you can get a nice yamaha out of your 600bucks (non-entry level)

There may be others, but the Onkyo TX-SR 702 has a phono input. This piece averages $600 on the internet. Its quality should be equal to or better than your old Kenwood.

By the way, this is no "entry" level receiver. These days entry level receivers will have no phono input.
