Speaker of the House
Aperion Audio wants you to win!

Aperion Audio is giving away the chance to one (1) SLIMstage30 Surround Soundbar to one (1) eligible forum member! As households add a second or third flat-panel HDTV, these secondary viewing locations may not accommodate a 5.1 home theater speaker system due to room size, layout, or pure aesthetics. The Aperion SLIMstage30 Surround Soundbar is the perfect solution for secondary viewing locations like a bedroom, den or any other room where elegance and simplicity are just as important to you as your sonic experience. This contest represents a $599 value!

Click here to find out what Audioholics thought of the SLIMstage30.

1) Do you have outdoor speakers at your home?
No. My back porch is tiny and uncovered, so I'm never out there.

2) Please choose and rank the top 3 most important features to have for outdoor speakers (1 being the most important)
1. Sound quality
2. Ability to adjust volume without going inside your house
3. Loudness

3) Do you have a power outlet on your deck or patio?
Yes, but I'm fairly certain it doesn't even work.

4) Where do you have /or would you want outdoor speakers? (e.g., deck, under an eave, in the garden, around pool, other, etc.)
If I had a larger & covered back porch/deck, I'd have em back there. If I was allowed to have a pool (HOA says no) and could afford one, I'd definitely have to have speakers around there.

  • If yes, how do you get music to them? Can you control the volume and source while outside?
  • If no, why not? (e.g., not necessary, can't make it work, etc.)
No. We had a wireless speaker at one time (connected to second zone output of our surround processor), which was used both outside and in the living room, but it was used so rarely that I didn't bother reconnecting it at some point. We could not change the source remotely. The wireless speaker had a volume control on it, but it was hard to reach.

2) Please choose and rank the top 3 most important features to have for outdoor speakers (1 being the most important)

  1. Sound quality
  2. Ability to adjust volume without going inside your house
  3. Ability to change audio track or source without going inside your house

Very poor sound quality was probably one of the biggest factors in not using our wireless speaker, but control (or lack thereof) of volume and source probably also contributed.

3) Do you have a power outlet on your deck or patio?
Yes.

4) Where do you have /or would you want outdoor speakers? (e.g., deck, under an eave, in the garden, around pool, other, etc.)
Deck installation - would be under an eave or on exterior wall of the house above the deck railing.

If no, why not? (e.g., not necessary, can't make it work, etc.)

Currently under the eave although the Yamahas do not adjust from right to left, only up and down due to the design of the brackets.
