Enough dampening/stuffing?

This is a dual 12", 500 watt sub project. Ported and tuned to 18Hz. Is this about the right amount of stuffing/dampening? It's 3.5" R13 insulation.

The dampening is fine. You could put another strip of it on one of the vertical walls.
I would have done more for bracing. You have no braces from the left to the right walls in your picture. If you can you may want to try and put some in. If not, the first enclosures are always a learning experience. :)

I was planning on adding braces across...

Better daming material

I think your damping is fiber glass insulation. The acoustic performance is less than ideal. I recommend you go to Walmart and get premium polyester fiber fill. It is identical with the high end expensive stuff. Cover all walls with one layer. You really can't brace an enclosure properly at the stage you are at. You need to put in interlacing horizontal and vertical shelves bonded into router grooves. That enclosure may well ring like a barrel, I'm afraid.

However it is all great fun. If you don't like this one, its just a little more MDF board and cheap supplies, time and effort and you have a new speaker. All of us speaker builders have leaned from our mistakes and the guidance of those ahead of us. It is a great hobby and should be much more popular than it is.
