This will be my first purchase towards a new HT and was wondering everyone's opinions on these speakers.

Welcome to the forum, leroy!

Have you had a chance to listen and see those for yourself? If not, try to do that. Getting opinions from others is good, but it really comes down to how you like them.

Just my two cents.

At what cost:rolleyes:! You CAN'T get a better speaker in Canada for the $500.00 in which Future shop is selling them for;).

If I read this correctly you own Enegy speakers but don't like em!
You work or worked at Toyota and yet prefer Honda, anything else you don't like!

In your opinion perhaps, but Energy RC-30s are some of the best speakers for the money - especially if I suspect the OP is in Canada. I'm trying to think of a pair of towers for $499 that sounds as good as the RC30s.

Yeah, it seems like a steal while the black set are selling for 1499 and cherry/rosenut are going for 499 :)

Hey Leroy, I picked up the black ash for $699.00 on Canada day. I chose the black ash because I wanted to match other component in my set up and my decor. I was told by them the black ash is just more popular than the other two and easier to sell, but the rosenut or cherry finish are very nice especially at that price point(499.00). Even at $700.00 cdn you would be hard pressed to find a better speaker. :D

I've never heard the RC-30's, but I can tell you that I LOVE my RC-70's.
I have a pair of Mirage M760 floorstanders that I bought back in 1989. They are outstanding, and sound as good today as they did when I bought them all those years ago. They're finished in black ash vinyl, but look like real wood (Mirage does a good job with that).
We moved into a new house a year ago, and I bought new "stuff". While my old Mirages sound, and look, fine, I wanted something new with a nice finish to match the A/V cabinet.
The bar was set very high based on those M760's, and I couldn't audition the Energy's (no dealers nearby). So, I went with my instincts and other owner reviews and bought the RC-70's from an authorized on-line dealer who assured my that I could return them if I didn't like them.
Well, that was back around Oct.-Nov., and I still have the RC-70's. I have the rosenut finish, which is almost a dead-on match to the finish of the cabinet.
Based on what I've read from other RC-30 owners, I think you'll be very happy with them.

Leroy - I don't think you'll be unhappy with your overall choice....that's a nice loudspeaker. Overall, its hard to go wrong in this category. You're on Club Polk as well right? Just wondering.
