After many years of waiting for better front mains, I took the plunge (an economical one for sure!) and bought the Energy C-3's from Audio Advisor. Also bought the speaker stands made for the old Connoisseur line. In 2002 I listened to the C-3's and were blown away by the sound for how inexpensive they were - well, now since they are discontinued I saved 50%. I am very happy that I'll be able to fill that frequency gap that is non-existent in the mid-bass frequencies common with satellite/sub set-ups.

They will be pairing up with an Energy e:XL-S10 sub I bought in December 2000. The Energy Take 2's that I used as front mains will be going to the rear as rear surrounds. All I need now is an Energy Center channel speaker. (Currently I am using some REALLY horrible Sony bookshelves as centers).

Anyone here have a similar set up? How do you like your C-3's?

I have the C-1's and love em.

I have a pair

I use my C-3's as my left & right surrounds. I am using 3 of the C-C3 LCR speakers for my fronts and center and these are awsome speakers; they are 3-way speakers with 5 drivers; 2 - 6.5 woofers and 2 - 2 inch Midrange drivers. They weigh 30 lbs but I am also using the C-ST Stands that were made for the C-1 / C-3 and it works fine, just added some lead & sand to make them more stable. I tried to get 2 more of the C-C3's but there is no more stock available but the C-3 has the exact woofer & tweeter so they are a perfect match and sound really good for 5.1 audio.

I also just ordered a pair of the C-1's for my two rear-surround channels that are supposed to arrive today. I really like this line and wish they did not discontinue it although the new Refrence Series is very nice.

I have the C-C1 centre, very nice for the sub $300 I paid for a few boxing days back. I have my eyes open for a pair of Cons. to replace my eXL-26's and better match the C-C1. The C-3's are a very good buy for the money, but with a little guy around I want floor standers.

My system includes the C-7, C-C1 and C-R3 along with an Infinity Intermezzo sub. I have been really happy with the sound from the Energy's. The C-7s have enough bass that I do not use the sub when listening to CDs and the mid and high frequencies are impressively smooth. The C-R3 surrounds are easily the best surrounds that I have heard. At the closeout prices that are available on the Connoisseur's, they are an incredible value!

I have a pair.....superb speakers even at twice what you paid. When I bought mine, I was comparing them to the $800 Paradigm Studio 20. The 20's were overall better speaker, but in some/many ways, I thought the C-3's were better (I thought they sounded less dry)

However, I recently heard Energy's Reference Connoisseur series, and they are noticeably better, and am already thinking of upgrading to the RC10

I agree on the new Energy R.C. line, I auditioned the RC-30's with matching centre and RC-10's as surrounds, powered by a Denon 3806, Denon 2910 DVD and a HSU VTF-2 subwoofer. Mighty impressive! SOundstage seemed huge, highs crystal clear and tons of low end and those RC-10's behind you for DVD-A gave you the impression of a full range speaker back there. Played with this system for over an hour with different music and finally Terminator 3, the chase scene.

Thanks for the replies guys. I sure can't wait until they come in. I'm pretty exited. Finally I can say I have a "decent" budget home theater, in the audio aspect of it.
