Energy Avt6 vs. Energy Take 5.2

I am considering two options from Energy speaker systems
Energy Act6 ( new release)
Not much info either on the energy site or otherwise. I've only read one review on sound and vision's october issue.

The other option I am considering is the Energy Take 5.2 (now stopped production) with the S8.3 (new release) subwoofer. Lots of good reviews on this one.

The price difference between the two packages is next to nothing.

Does anyone have experience with either speaker? Does it make sense to actually buy the Take 5.2 system when the successor (act6) is already released and available?

Why not? They could be had for a substantial savings! :) The Take system is a very well reviewed and liked sub-sat system. I was not overly impressed by the ACT 6 system, but I could not A/B it against something else right away. It is worth its asking price though.

Should I replace my Ahtena speakers?

I currently own the Athena Micra 6 system. The speaker package is quite impressive. It only lacks some performance in the music section and i notice excessive port noise in the sub-woofer at high volumes. Its not been possible for me to do a fair comparison of the Athena's with the energy speakers. I am struggling with the fact whether the additional $250 for the energy speakers is worth it. If you've done a comparison, please let me know.

Speaker companies are no different than car companies. People want "new" whether or not "new" means better. In the vast majority of cases it only means different cosmetics.

Go with proven winners which have a long history of excellent reviews. Speakers are differant than cars in that buying a well reviewed older model means that it does not have the potential to lose as much value over time (as a newer unknown and unreviewed model) because it is a known value.

Thanks for the input.
I am almost certain now that the Take 5.2 is a better option.
My confusion now stems from the fact that both the Energy Take 5.2 and the Athena Micra 6 have been reviewed by multiple users and experts and both have had favorable reviews from whoever seems to have used them. I am wondering whether I should still invest the extra $250 for the Take 5.2.
Is it really a superior system? Please respond if someone on the forum has used this system.

take 5.2

i would with out a doubt take the 5.2 over the anthena's. ts more refined then the anthena's. i have the subwoofer from the first take 5 set, and its a extremely nice sub. the take 5.2's subwoofer has a lower fr and a better cone. the sats are suprisingly bassy for there size. my neighboor has them in his living room for background music, and its like none of the spectrum is missing. adding those to a subwoofer as good as the s8.2, or the s8.3 as stated aboive would give you one hell of a sound system for the priceand size.
