Energy AS-180 vs Dayton 120 HT Sub

How does the energy compare? I'm looking for a subwoofer to go with my studio monitors (KRK VXT 6) which I use nearfield. I found the Energy subwoofer for 70$ on craiglist which seems like a good price, but I can find no information on the subwoofer other than a .psd file of it's manual. I don't know much about subwoofers, but manual makes it a tempting buy.

What do you guys think/know of the subwoofer? Of the deal? I'm always low on money. Every dollar counts!

Thanks so much for your time!

Oh, wow. To make this worse, someone just put up a listing for the Dayton sub for exactly the same price. Please help!

For the price, just pick them both up, compare them then sell the loser for the same price or even a small profit.

Why not buy the energy and then if you don't like it, sell it and using the profits toward a SUB120?

BTW - I received a SUB120 yesterday and it is pretty nice, but I only tested it to make sure it worked since I don't have the room ready to place it in its permanent home (and waiting for my receiver to be released).

Well if you can only afford one, they are both rated to go down to 25hz. The Paradigm has a better amp ( 180 vs 150 rms ), and weighs 10 lbs more.

Get the Energy***I would say.

Yeah, Get the Energy - I doubt you'll be disappointed. Looks like your local Craigslist has some scores on it - Nice! I just picked up a Def Tech Pro Sub 1000 this morning for $95 (10" woofer, 10" passive radiator, 300 watts RMS). Best Buy still sells this sub for $499. The guy was nice enough to hold it for me for a day and a half until I could make it over to pick it up.

I think either sub would work just fine. Just pick the one that looks the nicest to you.
