Energy 10.2 sub problem

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and have a question. My older Energy sub keeps blowing fuses. My research has been telling me that these subs had issues with the amps in them. It's a 2002 model so it's old yet in great shape so I don't really want to toss it.

Is it easy enough to just to pull out the old amp and mount a new amp to the speaker? I understand I'd have to fit it to the back of the old box but is there anything I should know that's important before I do something like this? If someone could steer me in the right direction for amps that would be great.

Good site for this as well as all kinds of other fun speaker stuff! Sounds like your plan to just replace the amp would work fine, just might have to fab your original box a bit if the new amp is sized different.

It may just be time to get (or build ) a new, more capable sub altogether. You could try swapping plate amps but you'd probably have to modify the HPF a bit to get it right. Try contacting energy and finding out the HPF frequency and slope.
