Energy 10.2 sub problem

Hi all,

I'm new to the forum and have a question. My older Energy sub keeps blowing fuses. My research has been telling me that these subs had issues with the amps in them. It's a 2002 model so it's old yet in great shape so I don't really want to toss it.

Is it easy enough to just to pull out the old amp and mount a new amp to the speaker? I understand I'd have to fit it to the back of the old box but is there anything I should know that's important before I do something like this? If someone could steer me in the right direction for amps that would be great.

thanks,
Darin

It may just be time to get (or build :D :D :D ) a new, more capable sub altogether. You could try swapping plate amps but you'd probably have to modify the HPF a bit to get it right. Try contacting energy and finding out the HPF frequency and slope.
