Wolf Blitzer just had Rev. Jerry Falwell on his program talking about all the catastrophes in recent months/years. Whether it's mother nature, or the Hand of God, you have to wonder what the hell is going on!

The worlds ecosystem is a violent place!

Did you ever wonder if people in your or my area 100 years ago would have ever known if a hurricane hit the southern U.S. let alone Japan or anywhere else?

This tv/radio/internet thing just keeps us much more informed about things we wouldn't have known about in years past.

But yes it makes me pause and think every once and awhile....

I think it is all due to that evil avatar of yours:D

Yeah, when I'm looking for answers, Jerry Falwell is the go to guy.

That was my original avatar. It's pretty lame, but I've run out of them for the moment. Plus Halloween is approaching, so what the heck.

LOL. I shouldn't have said anything about Falwell, but he was the guy who brought up the topic on Wolf's program. I think in the late 1800's, people in larger cities getting newspapers would have heard about big news such as deadly hurricanes and earthquakes. But Strong Bad F1 makes a valid point. People probaby didn't worry about it as much as this type of news makes headlines 24/7, and people are glued to their sets several hours a day.

You just feel terrible for all the people who perish in these events, not to mention the surviving family members. I can't image 20,000-30,000 losing their lives to a quake, or over 200,000 in the tsunami.

Not to take anything away from 9/11, or the Iraq war, but it just dwarfs these insane numbers. And these aren't politically charged deaths. This is mother nature playing Darwin with the human race.

I think the main problem is people take the new and talk show stuff too seriously. Once the we start switching over to hydrogen power, things will calm down, and return to their normal operations. To bad thats not too soon.
