Enclosed Sub Placement

Our AV furniture cabinet has a open slatted front. Would it be possible to place and successfully operate a 10" Woofer sub without the grill in such a cabinet? The back of the cabinet is open and the sub would have a bit of spacing on each side and top.

The sub will work fine, but if you have any knick-knacks in the cabinet, they’re going to rattle and vibrate like crazy.
