EMP EF30T Tower Speakers

Hey Guys,

I read the review on the above speakers and was wondering what do you guys think. For those of you who own these how does it compare to the Paradigm Monitor series.

Also if I returned my Monitors (have a 30 day return policy) and get a pair of these (EMP EF30T Tower) would I have a problem with the difference in sound with my center channel which is a Paradigm CC190 while watching movies?

I have also just order another Behringer A500, when it arrives I will bridge both of them to play each side of my mains.

I have no idea how the EMP will sound and have no way of auditioning the as there is no dealer where I live (Cayman Islands) So I am relying on you guys and your exceptional ears to help me make this decision.

I wan to get a pair of mains that will knock my socks off. But I can’t go beyond US$800 at this point in time and don’t think I will be able to do so any time soon.

Let me know.

Try and find an RBH dealer if possible to audition. RBH/EMP will certainly knock your socks off. If you're into loud rock, these are some of the right speakers. Although RBH sound good with everything in my experience.

EMP 30's

I bought a pair of EMP 30's after reading the recs on Audioholics. They actually came labeled as Destination Audio, which is a home install version of the RBH's. Anyway, they are great full range towers for two channel music-- no sub needed. For HT, I think you'd still need a separate sub. I also have Axiom m80's, RBH 1044's, and Aperion Audio power towers-- For the money, I'd go with the EMP 30's. The best of the group are the RBH 1044's, without the need for a separate sub for 2 channel music.

Emp 30

Thanks for the reply, but I am wondering how they will sound with my current center channel which is a Paradigm CC190? Any help here would be appreciated.

Speaker upgrade

I am sure you will be happy with the new EMPs, but if you have a decent receiver then 1 let alone 2 of the A500 amps is overkill. Save your money for a center channel to match the main speaker for a much better front soundstage. The new main speakers will not be tonally matched to the Paradigm center. Also, your current CC might be too small to keep up with the new mains.

Also, Check out a few other floorstander options from AV123 including the new X-statics, X-MTM, and the entry level Rocket floorstander model.

Great, What do you suggest as center channel? I have already ordered the A500 and it is on its way, so I will just keep it.

I will order the EMP 30's though.

Don't buy a new center channel until you see how your current one performs with the new EMP speakers. If you later decide that you want a more seamless blend across the 3 front speakers, than I would recommend the EMP EF30 which most closely matched the towers tonally. You can always sell your Paradigm either in our classifieds or on e-bay which should be an easy sale based on name recognition alone.

Thanks Gene, I was just begining to worry that I would need to spend more, and then have to face the wife.

Gene, Is it possible to call the audioholics store directly, and place my order? I hope that these speakers will finally meet my needs. I cant afford to be an audioholic much longer :D There is always something new and improved to buy.

Hi Gene,

I do not recall you mentioning the sound stage in your review of the EMP EF30T. I love a HUGE sound stage and was wondering if these would do that. As you can see I am a bit concerned of not being satisfied with these, just need to be reassured thats all. One thing that I am sure about is that I will definitely have enough power for them-2 Behringer A500's

The soundstage of the speakers certainly is wide but of course I don't know what exactly you mean by "a HUGE soundstage". Certainly, for the price point, they provide as big or larger soundstage than many of the competition. Much of that is going to depend on your room and placement. When comparing these to the Axiom m60's, I felt their soundstage was a tad larger.

Tom,

I guess the words that I used to describe the sound stage may have been misleading. However you explanation cleared up that point for me. I sent a PM to the store administrator and I am waiting on a reply.
