So, it has been about a month since I got my EMP impressions and I love them. However, I am the kind of person who wants perfection, well not quite, but the best possible outcome. I have done the YPAO calibration and I am not too pleased with the results because I get a new set of numbers for the PEQ everytime that run the auto-set up. Sometimes, I see the same freq with two sets of values. ei. 50 Hz with a -7 and a -4. Is that possible? I am planning on buying a RS SPL meter to adjust the levels, but my question is?? Should I rely on the PEQ results from the YPAO. Should I use the GEQ from AVR to my preference or should I just set the levels and use no EQ at all? Is it also possible to adjust the GEQ, if I decide to go that route using the SPL meter???? Sorry, if this does not make any sense. That is why I am here to ask. You guys have been the best help since I started to get involved with HT.

Thanks in advance!

I have found the YAPO to not be all that great, I just leave it and the PEQ and GEQ off. Also I may have a Radio Shack SPL meter for sale very soon if you are interested.

I have never had much luck with auto-EQ/calibration type features. What I would do is run the auto-EQ and then adjust your levels from there. Make small adjustments and then turn on some reference material to see if you like what you hear. Also I would not set my speaker crossover any lower than 80 Hz - even if you have large speakers.

Thanks GlocksRock!

Santa actually got me the SPL meter. Just to make sure, I should adjust the level with the SPL. Then leave the EQ off? What about the DSP. Right now I have on Neural surround. Should I run the AVR as Straight? or leave it as neural? I though if I run it as straight, the AVR bypasses all the adjustments. Does that include the levels and crossover. Do you know?

Thanks again!
