I have been playing with settings and can't seem to get my center dialed in. It's not as 'dynamic' as I thought it would be and it seems to need more volume, 10 - 20 points higher, than my previous DefTech CLR 2000 center.

Is there a way to isolate the center other than unhooking all the other speakers? I have tried putting my ear up to the tweeter and I can hear some high level noises but that may be from the source and not the speaker. Plus, I'm not sure what I should be listening for or to.
I have talked to an engineer at EMP who was very helpful, EMP CS is great by the way, but I'm still trying to get it 'dialed in'.

I have the center turned up 5 points higher than the mains and 4 points higher than the surrounds, the center is XO at 100hz. mains are full range and surrounds are at 80hz.

Any thoughts are appreciated.

What are your mains and surround speakers being used? I installed an E56Ci and found it to be around -2dB less efficient than the E55Ti towers. EMP speakers will NOT be as efficient as your Def Techs but as long and you use an SPL meter to level match all of your speakers, you should be fine.

Also, I'd recommend crossing over the center at 80Hz not 100Hz.

Thanks Gene,

I'm using E55Ti's as fronts and PSB Alpha B1's as surrounds. You're right, it's time for me to stop being cheap and get an SPL meter.
I'll change the setting to 80hz.
