EMP E-10 SUB issue!!!

So I was reading through my sub owners manual tonight. I found some rather interesting almost appalling info.

To start... I have a yammi 863, EMP 5.1 speaker system, panasonic 50" HD... My Sub is hooked up to the pre-out via LFE line in. I assumed, between research on here and elsewhere that this was the best and optimum connection from my reciever to the sub.

Just recently I made sure my reciever was doing the crossover work thinking I was changing something. I set the subs cross to 150 (max) and volume to about 1/2. Bumped the db level output up to 1.5 to the sub from the reciever... then I read this!!!

"CROSSOVER FREQUENCY CONTROL"
The variable crossover frequency control allows you to set the crossover point of the subwoofer anywhere from 50-150 Hz. This control is only active with use of the "left and right" line level inputs. (#5 and #6 respectively) If using these inputs experiment with setting the crossover frequency control at the highest setting initially....

I feel shafted!!!

It then goes on to tell me that by using the "LFE" line level input that it bypasses the subs crossover control. And this is used when the reciever is controlling the bass.

It then goes on to say L/R LINE LEVEL INPUT " IF A FULL RANGE SIGNAL IS BEING SENT FROM THE RECIEVER OR PROCESSOR THEN THESE INPUTS SHOULD BE USED. IF THESE ARE USED THEN THE SUBS CROSSOVER IS ACTIVE."

I JUST WANT TO KNOW WHAT THE BEST WAY TO HOOK UP MY SUB IS :mad::eek::p:(

Hi. I might be missing something, but I think that your system is set up just fine and the way that you want it to be.

FYI, don't be appalled at the LFE input bypassing the crossover - that's great that it does that! I'm very happy that my sub has a crossover bypass. That means that when you want the receiver to do the bass management (which I think that you're saying that you do), then you don't have to worry about the sub's crossover doing anything to the signal. It's perfect.

If you want the sub's crossover to affect the signal, then you use the other line level inputs. Simple and convenient.

Did that answer your question?

Awwwwwwww... a sigh of relief. From the new guys perspective it was starting to sound like a missed something or made a bad choice. One would think that the most advisable connection port would be available with all the bells and whistles that come with the sub. Fortunately though I do want my reciever taking care of base management so I guess I am saved!:D

What pisses me off, and also make me laugh at myself is this... for the past 4 months or so since I have had this thing it has been hooked up via LFE input and I have been playing with the crossover on the back of the sub like a dewbie (dumb newbie) Damn you EMP for making me laugh at myself Damn you to white noise!!!;)

Just playin EMP, you sound great.
