I'd like to upgrade my system piecemeal (in parts).
Currently running my Audioengine A5's off the 3.5mm output from the motherboard. Rather than get a legit sound card I'd rather get an external DAC because I read they provide significantly less 'noise'.
Emotiva XDA-1 would be an obvious choice because it fits perfectly into my budget, however, the outputs of the unit are either 2x RCA's or 2x XLR's. My A5's only accept 3.5mm phono jack. Would there be a sound quality reduction if I used a cable from
monoprice
Does the signal get sent through that cable with enough quality to make the upgrade worth it?
