Not to ask the obvious: but you did tell your AVR that no center was attached?

Though there's a healthy debate about localization: I can't think of any reason 2.0 would make voices hard to hear (other than an AVR thinking that there was a center and so not sending dialog to the L/R units).

As to what would be acceptable: since you already have the PSBs, I cannot imagine any reason you wouldn't plug them in and find out what you think (just make sure to re-enable center)

Yes I had my center set to off, and was in stereo mode...

I shouldnt say voices were "hard to hear". But when I had the volume loud enough to clearly hear some softer voices, the explosions in the movie were VERY lound. I mean loud! I was concered for my fish, my ears, and my amp running low on power....Not a complaint - but Im very excited, for about a year from now, when I can afford a matching center channel, an XPA-2 and a good receiver or perhaps a UMC-1...
