Where did you find this info? I have been watching for information on the new Emotiva's and have not found any before.

satish, There are what I consider "minor" problems with the LMC-1, but nothing that doesn't have a work-around. The LMC-1's sound quality definitely makes it a keeper. Supposedly there will be a firmware update, which has yet to materialize, but I can live with the minor problems especially when I know that my LMC-1 has already payed for itself in terms of the 40% off a next generation DMC-2. As stated the DMC-2 will be around $1700. So for me the DMC-2 will be $1020 with that 40% discount. The $499 I paid will be made up with the $680 off a new DMC-2. The way I look at it is Emotiva will be paying me $180 to use their LMC-1 product until my DMC-2 arrives:D

It is my understanding that most of the bugs have been resolved and NOT a single owner was left in the dark in terms of product support or resolution.

Gene, I'm not sure why you think that most of the bugs have been resolved? There are several issues still in the resolution stage. There have been several long threads about this issue in several forums, including, AV123 & AVS Forum's, in one of them, Dan Laufman posted this on July 4th, 2007:

"Dan Laufman comments....

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hi all,
Wow! I've got to spend more time visiting the AVS Forum...

I just spoke to my old friend Mark Schifter who called me from Cali Columbia while I was making breakfast for my girls this morning. He wanted me to be aware of this thread (which I wasn't) and asked me to take a look and comment as I saw fit.

I am once again I am humbled by the amount of interest in our company and its products. I understand even more clearly the need for feedback and communication from our company to you. In the past, we have tended to address this on a one on one basis with our customers. By in large, I believe that the vast majority of our customers are pleased with their product and our service. However, this does not mean that we do not see the need for improvement.

Please allow me to address a few items of interest and concern:

1. We believe we have addressed all major issues with the LMC-1. Many units have been updated on a one on one basis for customers who have contacted us for this service. Also, all units shipped in the last month or so have had these corrections implemented. We have been waiting to make sure we are completely satisfied with this before we publish this advice and the corrective action needed in order address outstanding issues with the LMC-1.

2. Any customer with an LMC-1 will be eligible for this upgrade and depending on the exact production version of the LMC-1 they own, it may be as simple as sending you a dongle and software. In the case of a small number of very early units it may be necessary to send the unit to us for both software and firmware updates. Of course, there is no charge for this service.

3. We are not going out of business just because we have a sale! Do you think Nordstrom is going out of business when they have their half yearly men's and women's sale? This is called a promotion. Summer is a slow selling season in this industry. We are giving customers a reason to get off the fence and make a purchase decison. We all win! We have a better sales month and you get a great deal!

4. IMHO, people who do not have any personal knowledge of our company, its financial capabilities, its plans, and its internal structure should refrain from comment. Unlike many other companies, we DO make the bulk of our gear in the China factory that I am a general partner in. Anyone who knows me professionally knows this fact. It is also one of the main reasons we can sell at such low prices relative to the quality we offer. There in no one taking profit in the the middle.

5. We do not use slave labor in our factory! Nothing could be farther from the truth. Our employees are well compensated and cared for. I feel very strongly about this, and I view our China team as part of my extended family. Do you think that products like these can be built by people who are not treated like skilled and valuable partners, and more importantly, human beings?

6. We stand behind our products 100%. We are not perfect, but we have never left a customer spinning in the wind. If you are an owner and you have an issue, call us and you will be taken care of, period.

7. We are starting an Emotiva forum in the very near future! This is an official announcement. We are well on the way with this project.

8. We have also hired new staff to improve our customer service, especially on the internet. You should be able to see this improvement very shortly.

9. Our business is doing very well and we are having a great year. We also have many exciting new products in development; from our new processors, to amplifiers, and very soon, loudspeakers and powered subwoofers. I believe that we have a very solid long term business plan and we hope you feel this way too. The proof, as alway, is in the products and our service. We are completely committed to our customers, and our product vision.

10. Unfortunately, we must be somewhat vague about our new product plans and specific product details. This not meant to keep you in the dark, but we do have competition out there and it is in our best interest not to give out a lot of details too far ahead of the product launch date. We will provide complete details of our upcoming products at the approriate time. We will also offer exclusive deals and pre-order opportunities (like our 40% processor upgrade discount) to our existing customers.

Thank you for your support and feedback, it is appreciated and taken to heart.
Best Regards,
Dan

His point #1, nothing has yet to be finalized as of this date, so no corrective actions or published advice has taken place yet. Let me say as an Emotiva LMC-1 owner for 6 weeks now, that I have been completely satisfied with the sound and build quality of the unit. The minor bugs that many of the other owners that are patiently waiting for a fix, have "work-arounds", but it would be nice for the functions to work as advertised. There is a list of bugs that has been compiled in the other forums mentioned but too long to list here. I personally believe Dan and Lonnie at Emotiva are top notch and are waiting for a proven code to be in working order before issuing the firmware/software fix on their home website.

If the new MMC-2 (If there will be such) is priced at 40% off for us Emotiva owners at $599.00 you bet I'm trading up! With prices like this, Dan has created SERIOUS Brand loyalty. This will allow me to sell my LMC-1 at a VERY attractive price.

Ric,
I will be looking for one of those lightly used LMC-1's for a "very attractive pric" to compliment my LPA-1 amp. I know it will be an SQ upgrade from my Yamaha receiver.

I am sure that Dan will address the few remaining quirks with the LMC-1. I think that 99% of their customers, including myself, put in a movie and watch it on Dolby or DTS and don't really care if the Dolby processing mode button gets "stuck".
