Emotiva MMC1 vs Onkyo 805 vs Yamaha RX-V861

With the 861 to be had for less the $500 how would is compare to the mmc1. I have listened toi the 805 vs the mmc1 and find the 805 thin for sound stage compared to the mmc1. Also in the front stage the speakers are easyer to locallize and the sound does not blend as well. Thoughts on the 861 vs mmc1 they would both have an lpa1 for the amplification? NHT classic 4's and 3C for the front setup.

I doubt there is a difference between the Onkyo 805 vs Yamaha 861. If anything, I would have guessed that the 805 sounded better than the 861 and the MMC1 sounded like the 805. But if you think the MMC1 sounded better than the 805, you will probably think the MMC1 will sound better than the 861.

I vote for the MMC-1.

The 805 sounds clean undistored but the mmc1 seems to blend the sound field better. Wonder what the resell value for the mmc1 will be after the xmc comes out?

Emotiva pre pro

Wait a couple months for the Emotiva UMC-1 pre-pro. It should have comparable SQ to your MMC and all the latest HDMI features. It should be a good match since your amp doesn't offer balanced inputs. If you are an origional owner, you can get the 40% discount.

2nd vote on Emotiva UMC, lonnie said the sq would be at par with the mmc-1 of their current generation.

The features on the UMC are too good to resist.

I have but don't use the Yammy RX-v2500 (wanna buy it?) and am running the DMC-1/MPS-1 combo ( a better looking MMC). To me there is no comparison in SQ...the Emo gear is in another league.

Wait for the UMC unless you don't need HDMI video/audio.
